How to use the online tuner

Why does the tuner need microphone access?

Your browser analyzes the pitch picked up by your microphone so it can identify the note. Audio is processed locally in this page and is not uploaded to a server.

Can I use this with an electric guitar?

Yes, if the microphone can hear the amp or guitar clearly. A direct interface can also work when your browser exposes it as an audio input.

What if the note jumps around?

Play one string at a time, let the note ring, and reduce nearby noise. The tuner may have trouble with very quiet notes, heavy distortion, or several strings ringing together.
